You Made A Fool of Death With Your Beauty: Akwaeke Emezi

You Made A Fool of Death With Your Beauty: Akwaeke Emezi

What a beautifully written romance book.

I normally don’t go for romance book because some typical love stories be making me made but this one. This one had its moments it made me mad but I can understand why the things were said and felt when it came to the things that was going on.

Feyi lived in Brooklyn, New York and she was an artist, had her own studio. Feyi hasn’t dated in 5 years since an accident she had that had killed her husband. She finally had an one night stand with a guy named Milan and they had a platonic relationship but Feyi felt like she needed more. She wanted to feel alive and she wasn’t getting that from Milan. Some time later she decided to get with one of his friends Nasir and they had a good start.

Feyi wanted to take it slow and wanted to be just friends and she was okay with that. She didn’t want to move to fast when it should just be friendly right. In the midst of their friendship feelings was gained but Feyi always pushed them aside because it seemed mm too perfect.

Nasir invited her to come home with him in the Caribbean because him and his friends always go every year. He also let her know that she had got a spot with a famous artist named Rebecca and that she had to create a piece. That’s when she learned that his dad was a famous chef named Alim Blake.

She was nervous at first meeting his family because they were just friends and it shouldn’t have gotten to that point but it was also an opportunity for Feyi to show her work. She instantly had a crush on Alim and it was conflicting how she felt for Nasir.

She wanted that alive feeling and no matter how much she tried to deny it. Alim was who was giving her that feeling, that rush she thought she wouldn’t feel again after losing her husband five years prior… well let’s just say the fireworks went off and after losing a love one. Love was found again in an unusual way.

I highly recommend reading this.

I never want to be the one to ruin a good story and a lot of people talk about this book and I had no clue it was this good. Just know that I’m not a girl who loves romance stories but this was amazing because no matter how real something feels to us, how good it feel, we never consider the hearts it can break in the process. It makes you question though. Do you live for them or do you live for you?
